Melania Trump joined her husband last night for a celebratory dinner, following James Comey’s Senate testimony in which the former FBI director proclaimed, “Lordy, I hope there are tapes.”White House fashion consultant, Sarah Huckabee Sanders gushed, “Melania wanted to show how passionate she is about recycling. She found several boxes in her husband’s Oval Office closet marked ‘Goodwill’ and decided to do something fun with the contents. I’m sure you’ll agree that her designer did an unbelievable job.”This story got a lot of attention. Credit goes to Virginia Fitzgerald for her wonderful creation “Black Widow” which I used as the idea for the story. It is a life size dress sculpture created out of chicken wire and VCR tape. If we were to grade President Trump on his ability to lie, deceive and distract, he’d get straight A’s. To achieve such high grades, however, you need a willing audience. We should also hand out A grades to the media, Wall Street, and those who voted for him. Their blindness and optimism, their ability to not see through the lies are to be commended.A prime example is yesterday’s “tax plan”. A 250 word document, consisting of meaningless bullet points. A plan which will never make it to the President’s desk. But, the media spent hours dissecting it, Wall Street swooned in the build-up to it, and Trump voters were already on their way to the mall to spend their new-found wealth. We’ve set the bar so low that even the most egregious lies and distractions are greeted as the norm, sending the media down the next winding rabbit hole, while Trump continues to dismantle the tenets of our democracy. But what, I hear you ask, about Hillary’s email server?
